The White Army

Holodomor AvatarInitially the military arm of the White movement composed of Tsarist troops displaying the white uniforms of Imperial Russia hence ‘white’ army or guard. Historically the reference also refers to absolute monarchy, specifically united under the first Tsar, Ivan III (1462–1505), and styled “Albus Rex” (“White King”). However, as the Jewish Bolshevik occupation dug in the white army’s rank-and-file swelled to comprise active anti-Bolsheviks such as Cossacks, nobles, and peasants as volunteers. The White army and the Red army fought from November 1917 until 1921, and isolated battles continued in the Far East until 1923.
